Understanding MS Immunotherapy Medications

Hosted by MS nurse Tim O’Maley, this session will look at the currently available PBS listed medications for treating MS as well as the currently available PBS listed medications for treating MS. Starting a Disease Modifying Therapy (DMT) is a complicated decision with multiple options now available to people with relapsing MS.

There is no “one fits all” in MS and we hope this session will give you extra information on the options for people starting, considering changing or maintaining current therapy.

About the presenter:
Tim is an MS Nurse Practitioner and MS Queensland’s Manager of Special Education and Community Resources. He has been working in neurosciences for over 21 years in the hospital, community and not for profit sectors. Tim is an MS Nurse Practitioner and MS Queensland’s Manager of Special Education and Community Resources.

He has been working in neurosciences for over 21 years in the hospital, community and not for profit sectors. Tim developed a special interest in MS in the mid 90’s and helped develop an immunotherapy support service at the PA Hospital in Brisbane before moving to support the MS Clinic at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital.

From there he was asked to facilitate the establishment and service development for Wesley Mission Brisbane, successfully gaining full accreditation of service before moving on to his current position with MS Queensland.

Tim is responsible for developing and delivering MS Queensland’s educational programs with people living with MS and relevant health professionals as well as working on the delivery of special projects which address MS from a wellness and self-management perspective.
