Join the MS Queensland Housing Solution

In Queensland, 1,340* people with a disability under the age of 65
are living in residential aged care. Of those people, 119 are under
the age of 50.

The high demand for specialist, high care supported housing has created a disability housing crisis.

People are being cared for at home in an environment not suited
to high care needs, or are being forced into residential aged care.In order to provide our solution, we need your help

Michael’s Story

Michael, 44, lives with multiple sclerosis.

Because of his condition, Michael made the decision to live in an aged care facility in the hope that his wife and daughter could get on with their lives. But being separated from his family, coupled with a surrounding of people who were preparing for the end of their lives, proved too much. Michael was back home in only 3 weeks with his wife, Isabelle, as his carer.

However, as a part of the MS Queensland Housing Solution, we were able to find Michael housing appropriate for his needs where he can live independently.

“Living here he gets to have his own life, we can come and go whenever we want, he gets to eat what he wants, he gets to go out to wherever he wants.”

Help us build futures for people like Michael

We want to change what the future looks like for people living with MS and other progressive neurological disease in Queensland by providing homes with appropriate care and support, when it’s needed.

The MS Queensland Housing Solution is MS Queensland’s bold plan to build new high need, independent living apartments across Queensland.  Our goal is to help bridge the critical gap in the availability of specialist disability accommodation with quality support services.  But we need your help.

Why your support is critical

The government alone is not able to address the shortage of specialist disability accommodation.

Disability housing providers in partnership with government, the private sector and the wider community will need to step up.  This is why MS Queensland are 100% committed to our Housing Solution.
