MS Queensland’s Springfield Apartments project wins international recognition

We celebrated the opening of the first development under our Project Dignity 120 initiative, the Springfield Apartments in June last year. The celebrations have continued with MS Queensland’s project management partner Gripfast Consulting winning both the Queensland and Australian project management award for the best ‘Community Development Project of the Year’. Following the win, our project went on to compete at the Asia Pacific Project Management Awards where we were awarded ‘runner-up’.

We now look forward to competing for the highest recognition possible at the International Project Management Association’s (IPMA) International Awards.

The Springfield Apartments are MS Queensland’s first development under the Project Dignity 120 initiative which seeks to end the disability housing crisis facing Queensland.

The Springfield Apartments project was a collaboration of many organisations across the development and construction, project management, financial and not-for-profit industries.

The collaboration made the dream of providing supported independent living apartments for people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and other progressive neurological diseases a reality.

Gripfast worked closely with our MS Queensland team for three years to develop a set of design and construction guidelines for high-care accommodation that fills the gap between the National Construction Code and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) guidelines.

We designed specific guidelines that address the ‘real’ needs of those living with MS and other progressive neurological disease, rather than just a ‘one size fits all’ set of generic standards.

This collaboration has resulted in a new standard within the Asia/Pacific for specialist high-care accommodation and we’re incredibly proud to be leading the way.
