Lorraine’s dynamic life journey unfolded in the heart of rural Queensland, where she spent her formative years and pursued her studies to become a nurse—a career path she now regards as a deeply fulfilling and rewarding chapter of her life.
In 1989, a persistent eye issue surfaced for Lorraine, initially dismissed as an allergy. However, as time passed, the concern deepened, leading to a series of functional challenges over the next few years. Hand weakness, gait problems, and unexpected falls became part of her daily reality.
By 1996, Lorraine found herself, recognising the need to seek medical attention for her escalating physical struggles. Her physician, in turn, referred her to a neurologist. It was in November of that year that she received her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis.
Throughout her life, Lorraine has been a dedicated contributor to her community, channeling her generosity by crafting fabric bags for fundraisers and inspiring others to join in various charitable events.
After several contented years in Queensland, Lorraine made a significant move to Perth in 2015, driven by the desire to be closer to her two younger sons.
Today, Lorraine’s states that her faith remains a source of strength and has helped her on her journey. Her electric wheelchair enables her to participate in chapel services and technology allows her to stay connected with her Queensland church.
While life has changed significantly, Lorraine continues to find happiness in her journey.
