Kez is taking on MS Queensland’s Larapinta Trek in 2021

23/11/2020 by MS Queensland

Introducing our very first 2021 Larapinta Trekker – Kez Grice!

We are very excited to have Kez onboard, not only as a participant for our Larapinta Trek, but as an incredible MS Queensland Service Coordination Team Leader! Kez’ role is to provide support and assistance to the Service Coordinators who work across the Gold Coast, Northern NSW, Logan, Redlands Townsville and Cairns. Service Coordination is a vital service for Queenslanders living with MS, particularly those living in more remote areas.

“I have a small case-load of my own and support customers to implement their NDIS plans through support coordination to ensure that they are receiving the most appropriate services to meet their needs. This could involve liaising with the NDIA, service providers and allied health professionals. As service coordinators, we also support customers who do not receive NDIS funding.  These customers could be over 65 and we support them to access other funding sources such as My Aged Care.”

Not all people living with MS or MND have access to the NDIS. Funds raised through the trek will assist MS Queensland to meet the needs of those customers.  It will go a long way to addressing the unmet need and filling the gap.

“Service coordinators who operate in more regional areas often take a road trip to different areas to support those customers who don’t live in the bigger cities.  We also provide support via zoom meetings, either one-on-one with a customer or stakeholder meetings with a range of service providers. This allows customers in more regional locations to still receive face-to-face support and the opportunity to be seen and heard.”

Kez is so excited to take part in MS Queensland’s Larapinta Trek in July 2021.

“I am very passionate and committed to walking alongside people and supporting them to live a life of their choosing.  Walking, hiking and travel are also things I’m very passionate about.  Can’t think of a better way to combine the things in my life that I find extremely rewarding.  I love a good challenge and if I can raise some much-needed funds along the way, well that’s a bonus.”

Kez is definitely up for the challenge! Are you? Learn more about the MS Queensland Larapinta Trek here.
